Overview
The Monarch Beach Resort along with the Ocean Institute helped put together an excellent Children’s program (ages 4-9).  We will use their resources and add some Southern 7 surprises to make it a great YPO Family meeting experience for the children. The following agenda is provided to give you an idea of the type of activities we will have. We will be using a California Surf Theme: Boogie Boarders (Ages 4-6) and Surfers (Ages 7-9).  Drop off and pick up locations for the children’s activities are listed below.  Please note that all children must be signed out by a parent or registered guardian.

Children Aged 4:
Children aged 4 are allowed to participate in ALL Children’s Activities but MUST be accompanied by a counselor or sitter during on-site activities at Monarch Beach.  Your YPO Southern 7 chapter has lined up a sitter during these times and the cost is included in your registration fee.  Thank you for your understanding as this is a California State Law.

Remote Check-in / Drop-off
Check in for the children’s activities will always be located at the Monarch Ballroom Promenade.  At the check in table, the Monarch Beach Counselors will meet the parent(s) and children at the specified drop-off and times listed on the Children’s activities schedule.  They will be able to answer questions and each child will be able to meet his or her specific counselors according to age groups. At this time, parents should have all information concerning medications, allergies, and existing medical conditions completed on the Waiver (if not already submitted in advance). As soon as children arrive, they will receive a colored rubber wristband: Green (Ages 4-6) or Blue (Ages 7-9) and an additional yellow colored wristband if your child has allergies. From the check-in table, children will be divided and placed in their respective age groups with their counselors for the day. Children should be down and ready to go at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled activity time. Activities will begin promptly and we ask for everyone to be considerate by being on time. Please note that all parents should have cell phones with them and cell numbers need to be included on the Waiver.

Activities
Monarch Children’s activities are intended to be educational and fun, and are designed for the children to remain active at all times.  Thursday morning and Friday morning activities will focus on education.  During these times, the children will be transported offsite to the Ocean Institute and engage in a YPO only adventure! The Ocean Institute Mission Statement:  Using the ocean as our classroom, we inspire children to learn. https://www.ocean-institute.org

Snacks & Beverages
A grab and go breakfast will be provided prior to each morning children’s activities.  We encourage your children to eat prior to the morning drop-off.  Lunch will be provided by the Ocean Institute for the Thursday and Friday activities.  In addition, “nut-free” snacks and drinks will be available for the children during each activity.  Drinks will be limited to water, lemonade, and fruit juices.

Remote Check-Out / Pick-up
The Monarch Beach Counselors will accompany the children back to the allocated pick-up area on the agenda below.  Unless otherwise specified, the pick-up location will be the Monarch Ballroom Promenade.  The children must be picked up and signed out by a parent or registered guardian. Children will be back at the scheduled time, and counselors will remain until all children have been checked out. We ask that all children be picked up immediately after the scheduled event (within 15 minutes). Additional charges may apply if children are not picked up at the scheduled pick-up times.

Agenda
The following agenda is provided to give you an idea of the type of activities we will have. In addition, there will be activities for Prospect/Conditional Member children Tuesday during Orientation and Dinner as well as Wednesday morning during Forum Connections (click here for Prospect/Conditional Member Information). There also will be Children’s activities Wednesday for all children during the Registration Party and Chapter Meeting. All parents will need to complete the Waiver prior to the event. Outside guests will not be allowed to participate; this is a private event and only registered children from our YPO group will be admitted. All children will be dropped off and picked up at the locations listed below and must be signed out by a parent or registered guardian.  Please note that age restrictions are strictly enforced to ensure the safety and enjoyment of the children.  Please note that Monarch will not provide staffing during the family evening events on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday nights.  We have scheduled limited children’s activities during these times and the parent(s) or guardian(s) are responsible for their children during these events.

Sunscreen
Please apply sunscreen to your children before the programs begin.  The counselors will have additional sunscreen with them and will do their best to reapply throughout the activity.
