**A note to the Tweens and their parents**
In order to facilitate our Tweens (rising 5th graders – rising 8th graders) getting to know one another and to enhance their Sea Island experience, we are offering exciting Tween exclusive activities on Thursday and Friday mornings.  We feel this will enable Tweens to establish meaningful bonds and relationships as they discover Sea Island and its surrounding properties together as a group.  We hope that all Tweens will be excited about these special opportunities which are truly unique and available only to our YPO  Southern 7 group, and that they will participate fully in both morning programs.  In doing so, your committee hopes that Tweens will feel a real sense of ownership in their experience and take away a connection with their peer group which will last a lifetime!  In order to ensure that we have adequate transportation and supervision, we ask that you still sign up for these Tween exclusive morning activities in advance, even though they are both free of charge.  Saturday’s schedule is a bit more flexible, and we encourage Tweens to mix it up a little and mingle with Teens if they would like.  There is still a fabulous, free of charge, Tween exclusive option, but there are several other activities that we think will be fun for kids of all ages should they choose.  These Teen/Tween activities are “user pay”, and Tweens will need to sign up in advance in order to participate.

9:00am-12:00pm TWEEN “CHILL” MORNING
We realize our Tweens have been very busy with a wide variety of activities during their first few days at Sea Island, and may want a less structured morning on this final full day of their vacation.  For those kids, we suggest sleeping in, grabbing a quick bite to eat, and spending the morning at the pool, at the beach or in the Tween lounge.  This is for those children whose parents are comfortable with a less formal option and who are mature enough to handle a few hours with minimal organized supervision.  As always, lifeguards will be stationed at the pools and on the beach, and chaperones will be in the lounges.  Please discuss your expectations with your children to ensure a safe and fun morning!

This is the Teens time to meet with Dr. Dana Lebo of the Bell Leadership Institute in Chapel Hill, NC, to begin work on writing their college application essays.  Dr. Lebo conducts a workshop each June in Chapel Hill called The Write Workshop, during which time the students develop powerful tools which help them construct a meaningful and compelling essay for college admission.  This particular session will open the creative gates of each Teen, and help them identify their passions, values, and commitments which can then be incorporated into an honest, vivid essay.  Dr. Lebo will give poignant writing tips which will ultimately help the admission officers see an applicant’s innermost thoughts, aspirations, and interests, and what he or she might contribute to campus life.  This workshop is an incredible opportunity for the Teens to tap into a nationally renown and well respected resource in an intimate, friendly setting, and jump start the college admissions process.  A delicious lunch will be served during the session to keep the kids engaged and the creative juices flowing!
